Movement is Medicine

By Nicole DeWard, CEO & Master Trainer, SHINE Health & Wellness

Let’s face it, it would be so much easier to take a magic pill where in a single moment, we begin feeling the benefits of healthy nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, stress relieving practices, and more. But it just doesn’t work that way!

Not only is moving into February normally tough as we fight to beat those winter blues, but we are all also still contending with the effects of the pandemic.  We do have a choice to make. We can crawl back in bed, pull the covers over our faces, and try to avoid it, or we can be intentional and make decisions that will move us forward, regardless of whatever our environment is delivering. What are you actually in control of? What responsibilities can you take on?

Your health and well-being are up to you! No one else can do it for you, motivate you, or live in your shoes! It’s on you and ONLY you!

Since 80% of our results come from nutrition, changing the way we eat will give us the best benefit. However, even though only 20% of our results come from movement, I find that regular exercise inspires better nutrition almost all the time.

Here’s the best news: the best type of movement is the one you CAN do, the one that you ENJOY, and the one you WILL do!

Did you know that when you move your body, you mobilize all the systems in your body?  You will begin to notice improvements in your energy, mental clarity, digestion, heart health, and muscularity. It can be hard at times for sure, but you can do it! You CAN do HARD things. Believe in yourself, and go for it! I believe in you and I’m cheering you on!
